Follow the bobbleheads and quest perks as they are laid out in this build and you're not going to miss anything important.

I'm not sure why folks feel the need to use exp +10%. If you follow the cookie trail I've built into this build you can very possibly be 20 before you even get to the main quest line. I used dogmeat to tank for me a lot in the early going to keep the levels down. The main issue with +20% exp bonus is that the game scales to your level. If you are 15 the fast way your equipment will be insufficient to deal with the tough enemies. Low ammo, low stim packs, poor armor = much harder than it needs to be. Stats alone will not be enough. Go into a Ghoul infested place and the REALLY big issue manifests itself. When you see the nasty green ( not the glowing one... they are a cake walk ) misty Ghoul you better have a fast way to take him down. They are, hands down, the toughest enemies in the game. At later levels they become more prevalent. Super Mutant Masters with Tri lasers will own you if you are not well equipped as well.

Who adds 25 of each book and all the bobbleheads at the 1st level of a build? You can't even possibly follow that build as it's not going to look remotely like what you have at each given level. I get that the "Ohhh big numbers!" effect is awesome to look at on the stat page.. this has that too, and is an honest build with zero books used so you can pick and choose where you need to put the points as the books push your skills up.

That is, of course, just my opinion.

TL:DR If you make a build with comments make it useable and useful.

Things to do:

Level 2 get Megaton as a way point, then go to Rivet City to get the Intelligence bobble head. port back to Megaton, get the rad regeneration quest out of the way, disarm the bomb ( you have 25 explosives at lvl 2 to make this happen, but wait until you have the Intelligence bobblehead or you lose 1 level with a 10 intelligence ... no real big deal but it's min/max'd like that )

Take minefield as the next part of Moiras quest. Use that to zero in on the scrapyard to pick up Dogmeat.

Head to Bethesda to get the Lockpick bobblehead. Let Dogmeat tank a lot for you if you want to keep your levels in check. If you support him he is darn near impossible to kill early on. This also saves you ammo and repairs.

After getting the Lockpick bobblehead go get the Small Guns bobblehead. It can be challenging for a newer players but dogmeat really helps in here. 2 spots are particularly hard, but if you looted the pulse grenades they are a breeze. We come here early for the +10 Small Guns bobblehead and all the great weapons and ammo. The armor is fantastic too.

Head back to Megaton and drop off items in your house. Keeping your weight down maximizes your earning potential as you wander around looting and reduces the need to port back all the time. I sell to Moira and the food gal every time I'm back. I also sell to the Doc. The money they have resets so selling to them when they restock is a nice way to get your coffers filled. The only ammo I ever buy is the sniper ammo, because it's scarce. Everything else can be found in abundance. I never buy armor. The game gives you tons and the Talon boys give you great access to very good armor early. They give you nice energy weapons for repairing yours too eventually. Aren't they nice?!

Go get the science bobblehead. This place is easy and Dogmeat makes it a non issue. The same with Repair. After the old coot tries to blow you up cut left go behind the buildings and to his house. open the locked door ( it's why we went and got the Lockpick bobblehead so early ) and get the Repair bobblehead. You can do the quest here at this time if you like. It starts in Megaton in the saloon. I don't because I think the perk is craptastic. It's up to you.

Go north and get the Speech bobblehead from Eulogy. I waste the entire camp, but that can be challenging to new players. It's possible to talk your way in and simply walk off with the bobblehead too. Slavers can suck it, so they all die in my game.
After getting the Speech bobblehead and the recording about the android at the front entrance on the ground, head to Megaton, talk to Moira about the android, then the Doc. At this point you might be approached by a surly woman. Even if she never talks to you the quest can be finished. Personally I talk to Zimmer who is where you got the Intelligence bobblehead and agree to help him. I then follow the quest until eventually I talk to the android, reveal his true nature to him then offer to kill Zimmer. Talk to Zimmer first before killing him! Tell him you found the android and who it is. You take a very minor karma hit. After he gives you the Wired Reflexes perk shoot the smug elitist in his dome. Kill his body guard too. You now have both quest rewards for that quest line. The weapon and the perk. SWEET!

You have a choice to do Greyditch now or wait until after you hit Oasis. I like doing it now for the Ant Sight perk which lets me see things a little bit further away. Nice for outdoor travel. It's also required for a perk later on.

Port back to Paradise and head north and a bit east ( think 1 o'clock on a clock ) to the hills and find Oasis. Do the quest and if you choose to help Harold ( the only choice that nets you anything at all ) you'll get the barkskin perk. You can also get Yew's Bear Charm from the little girl if you are successful in an early speech challenge. It gives a permanent +10 to speech. Save before you talk to her and make it happen ;)

I kill off Moiras Wasteland Survival Guide questline at this time. I take all the snide ( bottom answers ) at each phase for the +% to crit chance.

From this point on I do the main storyline quest. When I have to find Dad at the garage I get the 3 bobbleheads ( Barter, Unarmed and Melee ) in that area at that time first. After breaking out of Raven Rock I got the 2 bobbleheads ( Big Guns and Explosives ) near there. At that point you have every skill bobblehead in the game. If you only have the original version of the game you can choose to get the Stat bobbleheads at any point. If you have all the DLC I would wait until after you get Almost Perfect to complete the perfect stat build. I have all the DLC and usually like to go to Anchorage at 7 or 8 personally. I then I like to get Superior Defender and Ghoul ecology around 9 or 10. After that I just fit Pitt and the Alien ship in whenever I feel like it.
